Nanoor was the residence of the medieval great poet Chandidas and the Bishalakshi Temple is located here where one can sense its ancientness. A mound is located near the temple and it is known as Chandidas Dhibi. This Chandidas Dhibi is entangled with rich unrevealed history, the mystery of Chandidas and resonates with the sweet verses which used to mesmerize Chaitanyadev.

Fair & Festival: Chandidas is the greatest poet in the Vaishanav literature and therefore, this place witnesses great congregation of Kirtaniyas on Maghi Purnima. A fair is also organized during Dol Purnima throughout the week.
Accommodation and Food: Though the arrangement for accommodation at Nanoor has still not developed, you can find some good hotels for food.

What to see : Apart from the temple, there is a pond where Rami Rajakini (washer woman) used to wash clothes and a wooden plank used by Rami Rajakini can be still found preserved there. The Bhadrakali temple is located at Kirnahar closely located to Nanoor. There is another temple near Nanoor called Japeswar Shiva temple at Jubutia. The residential house of former Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee is located near the village Miriti which is closely situated from Nanoor. On route to Bolpur, you can visit the village Beluti where the Devi Swaraswati temple is located and it is regarded that the great poet Kalidas himself offered puja in this temple. The Siddhabhumi Attahas and Sonarandhi Royal Palace located nearby can also be visited.
How to go: Nanoor is only 20 k.m. by bus from Bolpur. Small cars can be hired. Nanoor can be reached at the same distance by bus from Labpur.
