Nalhati is an ancient town on the bank of the river Brahmani. The popularly known Parvati Pahar is located here and is considered to be the most sacred place to perform spiritual practices by the Tantra practitioners. It is the abode of the vermilion coated golden tongued Goddess Kali. The larynx of Sati is worshipped here as the Great Kali. The place is guarded by Yogish, the beloved consort of Sati.

A Shakti goddess, Dwarbasini ("Dvaravasini") represents the goddess Durga. The Dwarbasini Temple is located at the conclusion of the Deucha-Baliharpur Road and on the banks of the Dwarka River. The river Dwarka runs through this area and, in accordance with Tantra, Dwarbasini is a Shaktipith.
